Dates:
|
May 12th, 20th and 26th and
a fourth final Workshop meeting, TBD
|
The
Purpose of these workshops is to provide Lindale Park property
owners with the opportunity to help determine what amendments to our
existing deed restrictions will be presented to the remaining sections
for their approval. Our existing
deed restrictions provide a limited period of time to amend or change
the document for Lindale Park.
We are currently in that period for most sections of the
community.
Respectful
Communication Guidelines will be presented by
Father Bill Laucher at the beginning of each workshop. He will then ask
participants for their agreement to follow the guidelines. During the
workshop, if anyone feels that the guideline are being violated, Father
Bill will be asked to intervene. These guidelines proved to be very
effective during the first workshop which was very productive and fun.
The
Overall Process
We will divide into groups of 5-10 people depending on
the number of attendees; each group will have a facilitator and a
scribe to take notes and help track ideas. Each group will have 60 minutes to
decide what amendments they would like to see included in the final
deed restriction proposal. At the end of this period, each group will
present their list to everyone present. The list of items approved by
all the groups in each of the first three workshops will be voted on by
everyone attending the final workshop meeting. Only items that are
approved by everyone at the final workshop will be included in the
final proposal. If there is a tied vote for an item (same number of yes
and no votes), then it will be considered a no vote and will not be
included. The facilitator for your group will discuss how the group
process works and what his or her role is in the process.
We will conduct 4 workshops to collect information
concerning what the participants want included in the final proposal.
Participants in the fourth and final workshop will determine which
amendments will be included in the document by voting on each item in
the compiled list of all the items approved by all the groups in each
of the first 3 workshops. Items that were approved by a majority of the
groups will be automatically included in the final document and will
not require an additional vote. This final deed restriction amendment
proposal will be presented to the remaining sections for their
approval.
The
Group Process
The first 5-10 minutes of each group¡¯s 60 minutes is
used for the group¡¯s members to make their own personal notes on what
each would like to see included in the final proposal. Then, the group
will combine all of the individual lists into a group list and vote on
each item in the group list. Before voting on an item, there will be an
opportunity to discuss it. Any item that is approved by a simple
majority of the group goes on the group¡¯s final presentation list. A
tied vote is considered a no vote. After voting on everything in the
combined list is completed and the presentation list is ready, the
group will elect a spokesperson to present the list to the rest of the
workshop participants. The facilitator shouldn¡¯t be the presenter.
There will be four documents on the table for reference
material (the first 3 are posted on our website):
1. The
existing deed restrictions that we¡¯re under right now (watermark: Existing Restrictions)
Click here for the existing Lindale Park deed
restrictions.
2. The
comprehensive set of deed restrictions that were initially proposed to Section
5 along with a table of contents for the document (watermark: Reference Only)
Click here for the originally proposed
comprehensive set of deed restrictions. Click here for a Table of Contents to this
document.
3. A
sample amendment proposal to the existing deed restrictions (watermark: Working Copy)
Click here for the working copy of proposed
additions to the existing Lindale Park deed restrictions.
We felt it was
important for you to see this since at first glance the document seems
long. Please note that the first 3 pages are the amendment notice and
the definitions and the last 3 pages are the general provisions and the
signature pages. So, only the middle 3 pages contain the actual sample
amendments. The final document will have a similar outline.
- A list
of reported and anticipated issues which is just food for thought
while going through the process.
Please feel free to email us (lindalepark@comcast.net)
or call us (713-695-8429 or 713-691-3832) should you have any questions
or concerns or if you need a copy of the deed restriction documents
mentioned above.
