New Board Members and Alternates! |
Diana Lerma
I have enjoyed my tenure on the Board and the goodwill that this Board has displayed to it's members
and the community. As a matter of particular interest, I look forward to 2008-2009 as we work to improve
our recycling program so that we can maintain and improve it and therefore continue to be a city-wide
participant. Especially dear to my heart, I am excited to prepare for the 10th annual 4th of July parade,
which we hope to make the best ever; and I will work with the Board to vigorously seek ways to deter crime
by working with our city officials and every single means available to us.
Thank you, Diana Lerma - resident and current Board Member Lindale Park Civic Club

Gwyn Guidy
This year was my second year serving as an LPCC Board member and it has been an amazing year! My fellow Board members
made all the hard work fun. We stayed focused on the true meaning of serving our community and accomplishing our Civic Club's mission.
We have worked hard to:
help foster a sense of community - by reaching out to every resident in Lindale Park with a "Welcome Packet" and recapturing the tradition of an annual Christmas party
increase pride in our neighborhood - by having the best 4th of July parade ever, completely redoing the flower beds and Lindale Park signs on Irvington, and remodeling our Civic Club
preserve the future of our unique neighborhood charm - by reviewing our soon to expire deed restrictions and updating them so that our residents can adopt new ones before the old ones expire in 2010!
It has been an honor to work with all the dedicated folks that have been leading this year's activities. As for my personal contributions this year, I am the Board secretary and maintain the minutes for all Board meetings.
I have served on the Hospitality, 4th of July Parade, Membership and Web Site committees. I maintain the web site and route all Email sent to our LPCC Email address. And, I'm the person that sends all those Emails out to our Email distribution list.
I would love the opportunity to serve on the new Board and continue the excellent work that was started this year!
Thank you, Gwyn Guidy - 20 year resident

Betty Davis
This past year the Lindale Park Board has been a joy and privilege. Everyone was so congenial, hard working and focused on bettering our neighborhood.
I have been a resident of Lindale for 31 years. I was founder of the present Civic Club and the "Houstonian on Watch Program" which was effective in deterring crime. When I established the Civic Club, my main project was to get deed restrictions reinstated which was successful.
The entire Board has contributed and worked hard to give you the welcome packets, 4th of July Parade, Christmas Party, TREMENDOUS IMPROVEMENTS in the club house, new signs on the boulevard and upkeep of the boulevard flower beds.
Presently, I am working on crime in Lindale. I attend the P.I.P. meetings sponsored by the Houston Police Department. Watch the Web site and Newsletter for a special date to address crime in Lindale. Lindale is my home and I love working to preserve the integrity of our neighborhood. With your vote I will continue do that.
Thank you, Betty Davis

Kathleen Gutierrez
I have lived here in Lindale Park for the last 30 years. My children and now my grandchildren are growing up in Lindale Park. I want my family and other families to continue to live in a safe, clean and healthy community. This past year has been busy, but fun working with the other board members and volunteers. I hope that you will give me another year to continue my goals:
• The yearly Christmas/Holiday party in December
• Getting to meet and welcome new home owners to Lindale Park
• Helping with other committees – the Parade, Yard judging and meetings with HPD regarding crime in our area
• Interviewing our oldest residents for a Lindale Park Documentary
• Organizing two BIG yearly clean up days at the clubhouse (windows, oven, blinds, etc.)
• Having a volunteer day for our Seniors in need (anything and everything from changing a light bulb that is too high, to helping them ensure a safe home according to the HOME SAFETY CHECKLIST that we delivered in the Welcome packets)
Thank you, Kathleen Gutierrez

Carrie Suarez
My name is Carrie Suarez and I would like to submit my intention for placing my name on the ballot for the Lindale Civic Club election. I have had the great privilege to be a Lindale park resident for my whole life. I was raised in Lindale Park and some of my greatest memories as a child where learning how to swim at the YMCA, playing T-ball (I was the only girl on the team!) and softball there! Now I live in the House next door to my parents on Gale Street and love it! Since I was young I have always played an active role in the neighborhood, at 14 years old I was passing out the Lindale Park newsletters door to door, volunteered at the YMCA, and helped clean the esplanades! I have been an active participant at the Lindale Park 4th of July Parades and the neighborhood’s national night out and each year it’s a tradition that friends and family come over to pass out Halloween Candy and check out the year’s most popular costume.
I have always taken great pride in Lindale Park and hope this year I can participate more in helping to create and maintain such a great neighborhood!
Thank you for your consideration. - Carrie Suarez

Vicky Salinas
My name is Vicky Salinas. My husband Jorge and I have lived in Lindale since 1993. I am a Retail Banking Officer with JPMorgan Chase and also serve on the board of the local M.D. Anderson Y.M.C.A. I have had the pleasure of serving on the Lindale Park Civic Club Board for the last seven years. During this time I have had the opportunity to serve as your Treasurer and Chair of the Beautification Committee. Over the years, I have met many of you when judging “Yard of the Month” and greeting the winners, also during Halloween and Christmas Yard Judging. This year I was lucky to have participated in the beautification of the Irvington Boulevard Esplanade and again met many new faces and volunteers. Each neighborhood activity or project that I participate in continues to reinforce my belief that we live in the best neighborhood in Houston! Lindale Park is a fascinating and vibrant neighborhood and truly a “Hidden Jewel.”. One thing is clear, our residents want what all neighborhoods want and that is a safe, clean and crime free neighborhood. It is important that you elect a Board that will work in unison to keep our neighborhood safe and crime free. It would be my pleasure to serve you again on your Board and I hope you will consider my name on the ballot.
Thank you. - Vicky Salinas

Louis Oviedo
I have been a part of Lindale Park for 44 years via family members who were residents. For the past 15 years I have had the pleasure of residing in the neighborhood. During this time I have been a member of the Lindale Park Civic Club, and for a few of those years, had the distinct privilege and honor of serving you on the board. I am also a supervisor and 22 year veteran of the Houston Police Department. My wife, nine year old son, and I enjoy driving or walking through our neighborhood streets and addressing issues that maintain and/or improve the quality of life for all the residents of Lindale Park. It has been exciting to see our neighborhood transform into one of the more sought after areas in the inner loop. I would love to continue playing part in assuring that our investments and family sanctuaries thrive. My interests are for the good our residents. Therefore, I would appreciate your vote and would like to continue to help serve you all as a member of the board addressing issues that are important and impact us as a whole.
Thank you. - Louis Oviedo

Nadia Heffernan
I have been a resident of Lindale Park for three years and have been very impressed with the improvements that have taken place in this short time. Since first moving to Lindale, I have been a member of the Lindale Park Civic Club and have volunteered for various committees. After a few years of working on the sidelines, I would like to be more involved in making our community a great place to live. There are a number of important issues that will come before the board this year and I'd like to be a part of making solutions that work for our neighborhood. We've got some challenges ahead of us this year in the form of new deed restrictions, motivating the neighborhood to recycle, promoting community involvement as well as many other initiatives that have been started by the previous board. It should be an active and exciting year ahead!
Thank you, Nadia Heffernan

Brenda Turk
I have only lived in Lindale Park 3 years, but would consider it a priviledge to serve on the Board. I believe it is extremely important to keep Lindale Park clean, to remain an outstanding community and above all, safe. We have 7 grandchildren that come here to visit with us and it is a priority that Lindale Park stays safe for all of our children and grandchildren. I would also like to see Fulton cleaned up as this is the entry into our neighborhood and a first impression for anyone coming to Lindale Park. I hope I get to serve on the Board and blessed with the opportunity to meet you all.
Many thanks, Brenda Turk
