Erma de Wispelaere
As a long time
resident of Lindale Park and member of LPCC, I was honored when elected
last year to LPCC Board of Directors. In that capacity, I have been
involved with the Hospitality, PIP, Membership, as well as the Parade
committees. The goal of current and future Board members will be to get
all or most residents become members of LPCC and also sign the new deed
restrictions documents. Participation in the membership and signed deed
restriction will enable Lindale Park to become an awesome community to
live in. We will be proud to say that we live in the “Hidden Jewel” of
Houston.
I will
continue to volunteer and act in the interest of our residents’
concerns in Lindale Park. It is well worth my time to do this civic
duty for our community.
Thank you for your consideration. – Erma

This past year was my third year serving as an LPCC
Board member and it has been an amazing year! It has been an honor to
serve with my fellow board members and all the dedicated folks that
have contributed to this year's accomplishments. Both board members and
other volunteers stayed focused on the true meaning of serving our
community and this year our Civic Club was recognized for all the hard
work. The local chapter of the
Masons presented the Community
Builder Award (and beautiful plaque) at our May quarterly meeting
and we were honored to accept on everyone’s behalf. This year we worked
hard towards fulfilling LPCC’s mission to:
- help
foster a sense of community - by recapturing the tradition of our
annual Christmas party and revitalizing our quarterly meetings
which now have excellent attendance
- increase
pride in our neighborhood - by having the best 4th of July parade
ever for our tenth annual parade; and by making continued
improvements to our Irvington beds and clubhouse
- preserve
the future of our unique neighborhood charm - by preparing updated
deed restrictions so that our residents can adopt them and ensure
that Lindale Park continues to thrive as the residential area it
was always meant to be
As for my personal contributions this past year, I
am the board secretary and maintain the minutes for board meetings. I
have served on the Hospitality, Membership and Website committees. I
maintain the website and help route Email sent to our LPCC Email
address. I'm one of the two folks that send all those Emails out to our
Email distribution list. I would be honored to have the opportunity to
serve on the new Board!
Thank you, Gwyn - 22 year resident

My husband and
I moved to Lindale Park 31 years ago. Right from the start we knew that
Lindale Park was for us, so we immediately fell in love. Our children
and now our grandchildren are growing up in Lindale Park. I have been
on the board for the past two years and I have really enjoyed it.
Volunteering and being involved makes me feel that I am helping our
community stay safe, clean, and continue being a healthy environment
for all that live here. The last two years have been filled with
fun and exciting projects that I really enjoyed being a part of. I am
very proud of every board member, because together we’ve come up with
great ideas that helped us accomplish every task at hand. Being able to
help and solve problems for our community feels good! I really hope I
have the opportunity to serve as a board member for another year so
that I can give back to my community. Even if I’m not reelected, I will
always be happy to volunteer and serve for the better of our
neighborhood.
Thank
you, Kathleen Gutierrez

I would like
to continue my involvement as a Board Member of Lindale Park Civic Club
for the 2009-2010 term. One of
my most treasured projects in 2009 was my involvement of the planning
and production of our Annual Fourth of July Parade. This past event was our tenth year
and I believe the committee did an incredible job of showcasing the
flavor and diversity of this neighborhood and the city. Additionally, I’ve enjoyed
maintaining the quarterly publication of our newsletter and providing
the community with highlights of programs and points of interest
involving our area. I have also
been a voice and ear to the community’s needs and concerns in all areas
effecting our surroundings, including but not limited to recycling and
waste; city street repairs and crime prevention. I thank you for your interest in our
efforts and hope to have your continued support and involvement.
Best regards, Diana Lerma - resident and current Board Member Lindale
Park Civic Club

I have been a part of Lindale Park for 45 years via
family members who were residents.
For the past 15 years I have had the pleasure of residing in the
neighborhood. During this time I
have been a member of the Lindale Park Civic Club, and for a few of
those years, had the distinct privilege and honor of serving you on the
board. I am also a supervisor and 23 year veteran of the Houston Police
Department. My wife, 10 year old
son, and I enjoy driving or walking through our neighborhood streets
and addressing issues that maintain and/or improve the quality of life
for all the residents of Lindale Park.
It has been exciting to see our neighborhood transform into one
of the more sought after areas in the inner loop. I would love to
continue playing a part in assuring that our investments and family
sanctuaries thrive. My interests
are for the good of our residents.
Therefore, I would appreciate your vote and would like to
continue to help serve you all as a member of the board addressing
issues that are important and impact us as a whole.
Thank you. - Louis Oviedo
Jessica Rangel
I would like to share with you a little about
myself. My name is Jessica Rangel. My husband Gilbert, our three
children and I are 2 year residents of Lindale Park. We moved from the suburbs
in 2007 and love this neighborhood. We realized right away that Lindale
Park is in a great location. It
is very rich in tradition and has kind caring neighbors. My grandparents have lived in Lindale
Park for 41 years so I have many fond memories of Lindale Park from my
childhood and I wish to help in preserving those great qualities and
the safety of our future generations to come.
Let me start by saying what an honor it has been to
serve this past year with the Lindale Park Civic Club. I have truly
enjoyed learning from a great group of people. There is so much that I
have learned about how much dedication, devotion and determination is
put into our fourth of July parade, deed restrictions, maintenance of
our club house and so much more. It has been a wonderful experience to
serve in preserving this neighborhoods integrity. I would like to have
an opportunity to serve again this year in any way that I can
help. I hope you will consider
my name on the ballot this year.
Thank you kindly. – Jessica Rangel

to the early 1970's. I became Block Captain of my street to help
report crime. Over the last 16 years I have worked on behalf of
Lindale Park Civic Club and have held a number of board positions for
the City of Houston that have help keep Lindale in the forefront.

years

Over the years
I have been very instrumental in a number of key projects in Lindale
Park and the surrounding community, the Flag Pole Project on Irvington,
the 4th of July parade chairperson since the start in 1999. Metro rail
with a key stop on Graceland Street and the newest playground in Moody
Park 2002. Recently voted by my peers to represent the north side
community in the process of selecting the artist who will work with
Metro on the rail stations. Most recently wrote and received a grant
from Green Neighborhood Thumb for Lindale Park, which jump-started our
new markers and beautiful flowers on Irvington. We have some challenges
ahead with deed restrictions and I will work towards the common good of
the neighborhood.

Carrie Suarez
My name is
Carrie Suarez and I running for my second term on the Lindale Park
Civic Club board. Last year was the first time I served on a
neighborhood association board and it was a great experience! Not only
did I get to meet tons of great new neighbors but I had the opportunity
to help with the on going projects and improvements for Lindale Park!
I was fortunate
enough to be on the Governance committee this year and we spent tons of
time working on the new deed restrictions for Lindale Park, which I
feel are awesome and are going to work great for our neighborhood. I
also had the chance to volunteer at Lindale Park’s 10th
annual 4th of July parade which was a huge success!
I have lived in the neighborhood all my life
and do not see myself moving any time soon, so I would love another
opportunity to be a board member again and continue helping in the great
success of our neighborhood.
Thank you for your consideration. - Carrie Suarez
Elsa Valdes
My name is Elsa Valdes, and I am 49 years old and
have lived in the Lindale Park area for over 20 years. I have raised my three kids here from
elementary to high school. My
last child (Jonathan, 10 yrs old) goes to Jefferson Elementary. At the moment I am unemployed, fallen
victim to the economy, where I
was laid off over six months ago.
My professional career is being in the administrative field
working as an Executive Administrative Assistant to Senior Vice
Presidents and CEO’s for over 12 years.
We first moved here around 1989 and bought our
first home on 308 Gale St., next door to Kathy Guitierrez (who is
already on your board). After
some life changes, we sold our home and moved to 5807 Irvington Blvd.,
and just recently my mother passed away in January and I have inherited
her home, where I currently reside at 511 Joyce St.
This past weekend I was reading the civic
newsletter and I was reading that you were taking applications for
volunteers. Within the last
couple of months I have wanted to get out and do my share, so to speak
and volunteer my time to help out my neighbors, but did not know where
to start. What a way to start by
helping in my own back yard! I
would love to help out in any capacity which is available and feel that
I would be a great asset to helping out where I can speak to residents
about deed restrictions and other problem areas where I can use my
bilingual skills in Spanish. I
feel that I would be a great asset to the board.
Sincerely, Elsa Valdes
