LPCC Will Elect New Board Of Directors at August Quarterly Meeting!

It is August in Lindale Park and with August comes the opportunity for residents to step up, throw their hats into the ring… and run for a position on the Lindale Park Civic Club Board of Directors. A board position can serve to actively affect the direction of the Civic Club. You would have the inside track on issues facing our neighborhood and a voice in choosing the available solutions. You can make a difference...

On Tuesday August 23rd, 7:00 PM, the Quarterly Meeting will take place at 218 Joyce Street. At this meeting, the Board Elections will occur, and the new Board will have the reigns to guide us into the future for another year… Please participate in this future, as it will be critical to our continued community health. Board members are elected by a popular vote, so you must have a desire to serve the complete community and not any one special interest. Please note that each candidate will be given the opportunity to speak to the voters for up to two minutes at the meeting, prior to the voting. To be placed on the election ballot, you are required to be a “member in good standing” of the Civic Club having paid the annual membership dues. You will also be required to sign and return the Lindale Park Civic Club “Leadership Agreement” before your name is placed on the ballot. A copy of this simple agreement is available on our website at http://lindalepark.org/Files/2011/Election/LeadershipAgreement.pdf.

Residents wanting their name placed on the ballot for the upcoming election should send the request along with a brief bio to the email address info@lindalepark.org. Or, you can mail your request and bio to the Lindale Park Civic Club, 218 Joyce Street, Houston, TX 77009. The deadline for requesting that your name be added to the ballot and for submitting your bio is Tuesday, August 16th, 2011. All candidate bio information will be published on our web site beginning August 2nd and provided to voters at the meeting. We’ll update the bio information when new candidates are added to the ballot. Bio information will be posted at http://lindalepark.org/Files/2011/Election/bio-info.pdf.

“Located Just east of the Heights and I-45, Lindale Park has plenty of large shade trees and 50 year old bungalows. The houses have "interesting architecture" --a key ingredient in starting a neighborhood gentrification boom, said Barbra Coffman of Coldwell Banker Swilley Hudson.”

- Houston Chronicle, 2001
